02 Nov 06 || Music and the Holocaust: Survival, Resistance and Response

Rarely heard music composed in hiding, before deportation, in the ghettos and in Nazi concentration camps

 

Sponsored by the American Musicological Society (AMS), the November 2 concert featured the Choral Society of Southern California, Los Angeles Zimriyah Chorale, USC Thornton School of Music Chamber Choir and soloists, members of the Los Angeles Vocal & Instrumental Ensemble (“LA VIE”), Holocaust survivor Cantor David Kane, and recordings made in the camps.

 

The general audience included participants in the American Musicological Society National Convention (held this year in Los Angeles) and members of the local community.
